Boise, ID

All automobiles driven in the state of Idaho, whether registered or not, must carry automobile liability insurance with following minimum coverage:

  • $25,000 for injury or death of one person;
  • $50,000 for injury or death of two or more people; and
  • $15,000 for property damage.

The Idaho drivers manual states that if you violate Idaho’s insurance laws, you will be required by the state to provide proof of financial responsibility for one year for first offense. A second offense in a five-year period would mean providing proof of financial responsibility for 3 years. This proof of financial responsibility is a certified statement of liability insurance coverage from your insurance company. This is usually called an SR-22 certificate.

Make sure you do not have a lapse on your automobile liability insurance as well to avoid problems in the future.
